Our Gear
Our Guitars
This is my Dean guitar. It is a 1978 flying V
sunburst. It has 22 frets on a rosewood fretboard.
It is my most expensive and prized guitar.
An up close look at the incredible craftsmanship
on my Dean guitar.
First purchased from Gibson as a custom Les Paul
1977 tobacco sunburst. This was owned by Diana and
given to Kevin on his 21st birthday. The guitar had to
be sent back and forth ot Gibson 3 times before they
got it right. Diana wanted the color to be absolutely
perfect and pleasing to Kevin's mind. This in turn
evolved into the sweetest guitar licks that
Kevin can possibly imagine swirling and turning from
his fingertips like a giant carousel turning around
and around as each song formed into the 30 or 40
different tracks on the various albums by Mudslide.
This is my prized Jackson reverse headstock dinky.
It was purchased at Guitar Center in Renton, WA in
about 2005. It is Steve's favorite guitar because
of the solid action from the EMG pickups and the
reverse headstock, giving it superior lead tonality.
It has a full 24 speed frets and can be heard on
Mudslide's new album "Dark Prophet".
This is Steve with his jackson at his house, also
known as Mudslide studios.
This is Steve's rare Max Cavalera tribal flame tattoed Bc Rich I dare you to try to find an exact copy of this
guitar! Some can be found with white tatooes on the BC Rich web
site but not this one! Steve played this prized beauty at the Alano Club of the East Side with George Allen in late March of 2007
The show was fricken off the hook awesome!
This is Steve's first guitar purchased by his father
back in 2000. This is the year Steve first started learning to play
and it wasn't until 2003 that his lead style really took off. Steve
plays this guitar on the Mudslide songs on all albums except for "Dark
Prophet." The single humbucking pickups like on Yngwie Malmsteen's fender make the guitar good for soloing and give it a nice clean sound.
Drums
These are a set of Kevin's drums that are orange, clear
see-through. He usually sets these up at the Experience Music Project
gigs when they happen and also the Rainbow on 45th street in Seattle
by the University District, or the Crocodile Cafe in downtown Seattle.
He really had a blast recording "Dark Prophet" and got into such a
trance hypnotic four beat heavy metal thrash rhythm that the remixing
of "Dark Prophet" didn't really need much more than the basic raw
instrumentation along with Steve's electrifying solos and George's
hard thumping bass. This is a must for all Mudslide fans to pick up.
It's very rare and production and printing of this may not go on until
a year from now in mass quantities. So, if you get a chance to buy one
of these off of Cd Baby, then do so. If it's not up
in the picture frames by the time you read this and log on then you can
simply email us at Hotmail and we'll get you
one right from the Mudslide Big Dog company itself.
This is Kevin's John Bonham replica orange drum kit
set up in Steve's living room during a recording session that happened
last year around December. Notice the mixer in the background and all
the mics set up on the drums. We take pride in making a good recording
and Kevin sure helps out with his time and energy devoted to the band
as well as his awesome kit and mixer and of course all the mics!
Kevin pounds away at the drum kit during our recording
session of 12/06. The same kit can be found on the back cover photo of the
self-titled Mudslide album. Although the original kit was a Ludwig 75th aniversery wine-colored huge, huge maple set with deep luxurious drum sound,
the difference between these kits is phenomenal, but both sound like they
should be over at the Seattle arena tonight in front of 18,500 screaming
Mudslide fans, don't you think so?
Our Amplifiers
This is Steve's first and only guitar amplifier, purchased
at the Renton Guitar Center outlet. It is a 10 inch model, which has now
been discontinued by the company, hence making it a rare snag. It can put out
a surprising amount of pounding, adrenaline-pumping head-banging guitar riffage courtesy of Steve. This amp has been carted around everywhere, including the
Blue Moon tavern, Legends Bar, The EMP, The Skylark, The Rainbow, and Highway 99
club. Don't underestimate the power of the Crate.
This Rogue amp was original owned by Steve's father, but
was given to Steve when he impressed his dad with his superior bass playing
skills one afternoon 2 years ago. It is surprisingly powerful with 100 watts
of power. It has been used by Steve for both bass and vocals. It is used by
the band primarily for vocals.
This amp is used by George Allen to plug his sunburst bass
into and rock hard and fast to Steve's heavy metal guitar playing. It is
a vintage tube amplifier that his dad used to use when he was Steve's age.
